Why a Trip to Paris Should Be on the Cards For Valentine’s Day

There’s nothing more romantic than visiting the city of love this Valentine’s Day with your loved one. Long considered one of the most idyllic destinations for a couples’ break, Paris has a reputation for romance like nowhere else. Here are just a handful of the reasons why a trip to Paris should be on the cards for a Valentine’s Day getaway.

Breathtaking Beauty

Paris is beautiful any time of year, and February is no exception. The streets are quieter this time of year and the tourist hotspots are less crowded, giving the city a more intimate, authentic feel that’s perfect for a Valentine’s Day break.

You may be lucky enough to experience a dusting of snow or if you visit later in the month, catch a glimpse of the earliest cherry blossoms and daffodils blooming in the Jardin du Palais-Royal.

Of course, no Valentine’s trip to Paris would be complete without seeing the world-famous landmark, the Eiffel Tower lit up at night. Admire the view from a river cruise along the Seine or climb the stairs to the second floor before hopping in the lift that will take you all the way to the top!

French Cuisine

Classic French cookery is admired around the world, and the delicious French cuisine is sure to be a highlight of your Valentine’s trip. Paris has over one hundred Michelin-starred restaurants so if it’s fine-dining you’re after, you’ll be spoiled for choice.

If you’re looking for something a little more relaxed, hundreds of bistros and brasseries serve delectable French dishes catering for all tastes. Those of you with a sweet tooth won’t want to miss the city’s famous patisseries such as Boulangerie Utopie or Angelina’s tea rooms.

Alternatively, make like one of the locals and grab a table outside one of the cafés for a strong coffee or a glass of red wine while you watch the world go by or simply gaze into one another’s eyes.

A Lovers Certificate

A couple of hours’ drive south of Paris, you’ll find the quaint village of Saint Valentin in central France. As you might expect, Valentine’s Day is celebrated in a big way in this tiny village, with a full program of events centred around February 14th. You can even get a Certificate Aux Amoureux (Lover’s certificate) from the Mayor himself!

Travel Your Way

One of the great things about Paris is just how accessible it is from the UK. With regular flights, ferry services, P&O cruises to France and the Eurotunnel, you can travel to Paris in a way that suits you. Best of all, you can be there in just a couple of hours, leaving plenty of time for you and your love to explore all that Paris has to offer.
