Step#1: Downloading and Installing Software on Your PC
To begin, you’ll need to get the iTop Screen Recorder application for free and install it on your laptop or PC. It works well with Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11.
Step#2: Configuring General Preferences
Once you’ve successfully launched iTop Screen Recorder on your PC, you can access the “Settings” option to customize things according to your needs. For example, if you want to adjust the video settings, simply click on “Format > Video” and set the size (resolution), format, frame rate, bit rate, quality, and more.
Step#3: Settings for Recording Screen with Sound (Audio)
In the record tab, click on the little drop-down arrow on the right side to choose your preferred recording area. You can customize the width and height to fit your requirements.
Enable the “Speaker” option to record the screen and audio simultaneously. Additionally, make sure the “Mouse” option is turned on as well.
To start recording your screen with your voice and yourself, turn on the microphone and webcam (if you want to show your face). However, we didn’t use the webcam for this tutorial. Next, click on the “Mouse” option and the small gear icon on the right side to customize some effects (in case you want to capture your mouse clicks).

Step#4: Start Recording and Click the Button to Stop Recording whenever you want
After that, you’ll notice a “Watermark” option that is already selected. Simply tap on it, and a new window will appear.
You have a few choices:
No watermark and Customize (To access these options, you’ll have to purchase the premium package).
Click on the red “REC” button to begin recording your video.
You have two choices: Keep the watermark that appears by default on your video or purchase a PRO plan to remove the watermark completely.
After that, wait for the 3-second countdown, and your recording will start.
If you click on the “stop recording” button, you can end your recording.
Step#5: Check and Edit Your Screen-Recorded Video
Once you’ve clicked on the stop recording button, your screen-recorded video will be saved in the files section. You’ll also receive a new pop-up window with various options. Take a quick look at the image below to understand the key points.
You don’t have to choose this option. If you feel like making some changes to your recorded video, select the first option (Clip and edit my video).
This will take you to a new editing interface where you can enhance your video with various cool features (located on the left-upper side) and adjust your recorded clips, audio, and other important elements.
